Advocates of Silenced Turkey (AST) internship program offers students opportunities in different areas of expertise to gain practical experience in human rights and justice. Interns can work in various fields such as research, reporting, writing, media management, design and advocacy within the scope of AST’s projects. The internship program is organized in two semesters per year and the deadline for registration is April 30 and September 30. Here are the detailed areas of the AST Internship Program:
Book and Archive Internship Program
This program was developed as part of the Archiving and Publishing (APH) Project, which aims to document the injustices experienced by individuals who have been subjected to oppression and to pass them on to future generations.
Duties:
- Documenting the repression against the Hizmet Movement and archiving testimonies
- To create written publications by organizing documents, letters and testimonies
- To make documents written in various languages available to a wide audience through translation and summarization studies
- Contributing to the editing, proofreading and content development of AST’s forthcoming books
- Announcing the project to a wide audience through social media, blog and newsletter management
- Supporting design and publishing processes
Conference, Panel and Exhibition Organization Internship Program
This program is designed for students who want to contribute to the organizational processes of AST’s conferences, panels, exhibitions and various events.
Tasks:
- Developing content and programs for international human rights events
- Coordinating events by communicating with speakers
- Researching and preparing materials for panels and exhibitions
- Carrying out logistics and promotion activities during the event organization process
- Hosting Exhibition of Silent Screams and Arts for Human Rights exhibitions at their universities.
Writing Report Internship Program
This program is designed for students who want to document human rights violations, support the pursuit of justice and contribute to advocacy activities in collaboration with international organizations.
Duties:
- Conducting comprehensive research on human rights violations
- Collecting data from reliable sources and preparing analyses and reports
- Writing reports focusing on issues such as arbitrary arrests, torture, violations of freedom of expression
- Supporting awareness campaigns using AST’s reports
- Contributing to applications for justice in international platforms
Social Media and Digital Advocacy Internship Program
This program is suitable for students who want to raise awareness and advocate for human rights issues through social media.
Duties:
- Managing AST’s social media accounts and producing content
- Develop effective social media strategies for campaigns and projects
- Creating blog posts, images, videos and short promotional content
- Using digital tools to expand the target audience and increase engagement
Art and Media Internship Program
This program aims to make human rights violations visible using art and media tools and is suitable for students interested in design, video production and art projects.
Duties:
- Producing documentary, short film and video content
- Creating promotional videos and social media teasers
- Designing book covers, posters and exhibition materials
- Working with the AST team on artistic projects
Graphic Design and Visual Content Internship Program
Designed for students who want to contribute to the preparation of visual materials.
Duties:
- Designing infographics and visual materials for AST’s campaigns
- Producing impressive visuals for social media and reports
- Creating designs for print and digital publishing
Legal Support and Application Internship Program
This program is suitable for students interested in legal processes and interested in developing legal defense against human rights violations.
Duties:
- To examine human rights cases in national and international courts
- Analyzing and comparative research in the field of human rights law
- Contributing to AST’s legal advocacy work
