AST spokesperson Dr. Hafza Girdap attended the Sociologists for Women in Society (SWS) 2026 Conference

AST spokesperson Dr. Hafza Girdap attended the Sociologists for Women in Society (SWS) 2026 Conference, from February 5–8, where she facilitated a workshop on bridging academia and grassroots activism. During the session, Dr. Girdap emphasized the importance of community engagement and strong collaboration between research and advocacy in advancing social justice efforts.

Highlighting initiatives such as mentoring youth in advocacy programs and integrating academic research with AST’s grassroots and empowerment work, Dr. Girdap also cultivated new collaborative connections at the conference. These emerging partnerships will help further strengthen the ties between AST’s justice-focused initiatives and academic programs.
