Every life—no matter where or how it unfolds—is filled with emotional moments, memories, objects, and stories. Photography has the power to capture these moments and reveal the reality, emotions, and narratives behind them. A single frame can tell the world about tragedies, uncover hidden feelings, inspire hope, or bring a smile. It condenses efforts, dreams, despair, and expectations into one unforgettable “moment.”
At Advocates of Silenced Turkey (AST), we believe in the transformative power of photography. To raise awareness of the ongoing human rights violations in Turkey and to stand in solidarity with victims, we are proud to organize the Kara Efe Photography Contest.
This contest is dedicated to the memory of Ahmet Burhan Ataç, a 7-year-old boy who tragically passed away after being denied the right to seek medical treatment abroad by the Turkish Erdogan Regime.
We invite you to submit photographs that frame the struggles, resilience, love, hope, and heartbreak caused by oppression and injustice in Turkey. Each image should capture those “moments worth a century.”
