Four Walls – Let’s Complete This Journey Together

On the evening of Friday, August 28, 2026, we gathered in New Jersey with over 100 volunteers and supporters for a fundraising event in support of our documentary, Four Walls.

During the event, we turned the camera on ourselves for a moment. We shared behind-the-scenes stories, details left out of the film, our journey across Europe, our shoot in the United States, our months-long research and interview process, unforgettable memories, and our ongoing editing and post-production work.

Everyone in the room that night was truly part of the Four Walls journey. Whether through their time, labor, or financial support, each person played a role in bringing this documentary to life. It was more than a fundraising event; it was a special evening where we shared the behind-the-scenes story of the long journey we walked together.

Why “Four Walls”?

As Advocates of Silenced Turkey, we began this documentary to amplify the voices of sick prisoners suffering from health rights violations in Turkish prisons.

Access to medical treatment is a fundamental human right. Yet today, there are over 1,400 seriously ill prisoners and more than 5,800 detainees over the age of 65 in Turkey’s prisons. Many lack access to regular medical care, timely medication, and proper nutrition, and they remain incarcerated despite their deteriorating health.

Behind each of these numbers is a human being, a family, and a life interrupted.

Four Walls focuses on the human stories behind these statistics and their firsthand testimonies. The film records the experiences of a police officer handcuffed to a hospital bed for 35 days, a teacher arrested despite having lost 95% of their sight, an elderly businessman brought to the brink of death due to a lack of medical care, and many others struggling to survive serious illnesses behind bars.

These are not isolated stories—they represent the shared reality of thousands of sick prisoners whose voices remain unheard.

We Are Now in the Final Stage

We have completed filming across Europe and the United States. Following months of research, interviews, travel, building trust, and collecting testimonies, Four Walls is now in post-production.

However, our journey is far from over.

We still need your support to complete editing, sound design, post-production, promotion, festival submissions, and international screenings.

Our previous documentaries, The Other Children and Metamorphosis: Women’s Resilience to Oppression in Türkiye, received awards at international film festivals and reached audiences in several countries. With Four Walls, our goal is to bring the human rights violations faced by sick prisoners to the international stage.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who joined us on August 28 and to all who have contributed their time, effort, and support to this project.

We haven’t reached the finish line yet.

Together, we can bring this documentary to completion.

Support Four Walls.

A single contribution can help us finish this film. A single documentary can bring the stories of thousands of unheard voices to the world.

Don’t let the stories of sick prisoners remain trapped within four walls. Together, let’s make the invisible visible.
