We, the Advocates of Silenced Turkey (AST), are committed to defending and amplifying the voices of those who have been silenced, persecuted, or marginalized by authoritarian practices in Turkey. Our mission is to champion universal human rights, uphold the rule of law, and work toward the restoration of democratic governance as the highest guiding principle of the Republic of Turkey.

Our work is intrinsically aligned with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, particularly in our pursuit of the following Sustainable Development Goals:

SDG 5 – Achieve Gender Equality

We advocate for the rights of women and girls who face compounded discrimination under political repression and systemic injustice. Our efforts highlight the intersection of gender-based persecution and political silencing, aiming to empower women as agents of democratic change.

SDG 10 – Reduce Inequality

We fight against all forms of structural and institutional inequality that target ethnic, religious, and political minorities in Turkey. By documenting violations and mobilizing international awareness, we seek to reduce disparities and create inclusive systems that protect human dignity.

SDG 16 – Promote Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions

At the core of our mission is the demand for transparent, accountable, and rights-respecting institutions in Turkey. We promote nonviolent resistance, legal advocacy, and civic engagement as pathways to build a just and inclusive society.

SDG 17 – Strengthen Global Partnerships

We collaborate with international human rights organizations, academic institutions, and civil society networks to share knowledge, support survivors, and amplify collective action. Through global solidarity, we aim to hold perpetrators accountable and foster resilient movements for justice.

In all that we do, we remain guided by the belief that human rights are not negotiable, and that a truly democratic future can only be built when all voices—especially those silenced—are heard, protected, and empowered.
